Between 2010 and 2012, NWO funding program Aspasia contributed to the increase of the number of female professors in the Netherlands, as shown by the evaluation conducted in 2014. 112 female top academics were given a permanent higher position. Among these were 18 new professors. There is a strong support base for the Aspasia program among researchers and their employers. However, the influence of Aspasia on the diversity policy of research institutions is limited.
